I visited Typika on its opening day with a bunch of my friends. One of them was the designer, Caspar, who created Typika’s visual branding. As soon as I walked into the space I had a strong desire to shoot. I was introduced to the owner and a suggestion was made to him that he should let me take photographs of his new venture. The cost, the date and time were agreed and the day came.
It was a cracking 6 am start which meant I had to get out of bed at 5. From 6am until the door was open to public, Typika was buzzing with activities and it was not at all easy avoiding staff members getting into shots. Not that I’m complaining. It was a great fun. I’m now wondering what would be like to photograph every single dish that comes out of the kitchen. That would be an all day shoot… I’m game though.
